Statistics and data suggest Sri Lanka is one among the countries that uses Agrochemicals heavily. Glyphosate was initially introduced as a material which can remove components that are formed due to the brackishness in bathrooms and was later identified as a weed killer. The chemical was introduced in Sri Lanka in the middle of 1990’s and was distributed among farmers without proper awareness.

Ivoice’s Investigative Video Story 'Beyond the Prohibition of Glyphosate' addresses the continued use of the Glyphosate chemical as a pesticide by the farmers of Anuradhapura District. It was also found that even though selling Glyphosate is prohibited in Sri Lanka, it is available under different brand names.
