Rights of the Differently Abled

Kandy city in Sri Lanka is known for its tourist attractions and religious monuments. What is unknown to many is that 10 per cent of the population in Kandy are Differently abled people. They face a lot of struggles in their day to day life as the common facilities provided to them are at a very minimal level.  The Article 9 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons says that differently abled people’s rights need to be protected. This includes considering the facilities for these people while developing building plans.
