Kidney Issue in Wilgamuwa

In Sri Lanka one person out of every ten persons is a victim of the kidney disease. Kidney disease has become one of the major issues in Wilgamuva in the Matale district where the principal livelihood is agriculture. More than about thirty-five thousand people belonging to 10,000 families live in Wilgamuwa.

According to statistics, in August 2017 there were nearly 985 kidney patients living in areas related to Wilgamuva, which included 749 males and 236 females.

Ivoice investigated on the chronic kidney disease issue in Wilgamuva. The story examines about the common belief among the villagers the main reason for this is the water sources in the village.
