Elephants are a majestic animal species which is often regarded as a symbol of Sri Lanka as well as an asset of cultural and traditional significance. However since recent times elephants are in a persistent conflict with humans which has threatened the life of both. People of Sammalangulam in Oddusuddan, Mullaithivu are among many villagers who are affected by the attacks of wild elephants. The villagers complain of elephants invading and destroying their cultivations which is their main source of income. With little attention and temporary solutions provided by responsible authorities the villagers are obliged to stay in the field to protect their cultivations despite the eminent threat to their life. They request the authorities to put up an electric fence and provide a permanent solution to this issue threatening their livelihood as well as their life.

Pathmanadan Sharanraj, a young mobile storyteller trained under the "Mobile Storytelling" program launched by SDJF in collaboration with iVoice and Neelan Thiruchelvam Trust (NTT) wants the authorities to look into this matter and do the justice to the community.
