Media for Gender Justice: Insights from Gender Experts #11 Chandima Nissanka

The gender gap is still yawning at top in media reporting? Now it is high time to think differently and eradicate ideas such as women are not equal partners in reporting or telling a story, nor are they equal partners in sourcing and interpreting what and who is important in a story. Chandima Nissanka, a senior lecturer at University of Kelaniya emphasizes that Sri Lankan media should focus more on gender-sensitive indicators to enhance gender balance at the decision-making level, gender equality in work and working conditions. Moreover, media organizations should promote ethical codes in favour of gender equality in media content.
