Lives wasted on the roads | சாலைகளில் வீணாகும் வாழ்க்கை

Vatharavaththai is a village located in Valikaamam East Pradeshiya Sabha in Jaffna. Despite the lush greenery during the rainy season, this remote village suffers from numerous difficulties during the dry season. The most arduous of them all is the lack of public transport irrespective all throughout the year. A bus service for a limited distance was available but it abruptly came to an end two years ago depriving the people of Vatharavaththai of regular access to public transportation. Students and the sick are the most affected having to travel long distances either on foot or by cycling due to their inability to afford a taxi.

Santhirachegar Banujan, a young mobile storyteller trained under the "Mobile Storytelling" program launched by SDJF in collaboration with iVoice and Neelan Thiruchelvam Trust (NTT) wants the authorities to look into this matter and do the justice to the community.
