Bringing hope to war widows

by Yamini Perera

Almost 10 years after Sri Lanka’s brutal armed conflict came to an end, still, a number of war widows struggle to make ends meet. Even though most of these women have developed their self employed professions like farming and agriculture, they still face problems due to inadequate water supply for their crops and hardships in settling their loans. Eastern Social Development Forum, a women's and development organisation in Batticaloa that was trained under the Vibrant Voices Program 2018/19 launched by Sri Lanka Development Journalist Forum (SDJF) wants the authorities to look into this matter and do justice to the community.
