Risking Fisheries in the South

The fishing industry is the main livelihood of the majority of people who are living in the Southern coastal line in Sri Lanka. Approximately 1500 fishermen are engaged in occupations associated with the fishing harbor in Tangalle.

The video ‘Small Scale Fishing in the South Is at Risk’ is an investigative story which reveals the issues faced by small scale fishermen in Hambantota due to illegal means of fishing done by large-scale fishermen who have the backing of the authorities.
